Are You Suffering From Sarcoidosis or Silicosis?
Silicosis is, thankfully, a rare condition in the UK. So much so that it isn’t a condition that many doctors would consider at first instance if you attend with chest or breathing problems.
For that reason we do come across cases where the individual has been misdiagnosed with similar conditions which can present with the very same symptoms and which look almost identical when looking at x-rays or CT scans.
The most common such condition that we encounter is one called sarcoidosis.
Sarcoidosis is very difficult indeed to differentiate from silicosis at the diagnosis stage and it isn’t until the doctor is informed of past exposure to silica dust – be it cement, rock dust, stone dust or something of that nature – that the true nature of the condition can become apparent.
That isn’t of course to say that all diagnosis’s of sarcoidosis are automatically incorrect but equally if you have had significant exposure to silica dust during the course of your employment and you have been informed that your breathing problems are due to sarcoidosis then it is worth speaking to one of our specialist solicitors, free of charge and with no obligation whatsoever.
If we feel that your condition warrants further investigation then we can obtain your full medical records and refer them to a consultant who specialises in the diagnosis of industrial diseases for a second opinion on the possible cause of your breathing problems.
All of the work we do is on a no win no fee basis so you will not be charged for us obtaining your medical records or for the consultant we instruct to review the diagnosis.
